Uremet Lighted Wheels
In May of 2023, Uremet’s lighted wheels were revealed on the Superman: Ultimate Flight roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. In the year leading up to the public reveal, I was involved in the engineering development, show programming, testing, and installation on-site at the park. It was a fantastic and unforgettable learning experience.
These light-up components are completely self-contained within the wheel system, meaning power for the LEDs is purely generated by the rotation of the wheel itself. Installation requires no additional effort from a typical wheel.

ROLLER COASTER DESIGN
Newton 2
Newton allows for complex ride paths to be creating using force vector design (FVD). This means that the path of the ride vehicle is dictated by the input of normal, lateral and roll forces over time, as seen in the graph above.
Microsoft Excel
NoLimits 2 has the ability to export comma-separated-values (CSVs) into a table that can then be interpreted by Excel. This allows for the mathematical manipulation of an existing ride path. In turn, NoLimits can then generate a new track profile based on the modified CSV.
“Hand-building”
Hand-building is a spline-based method of designing a track profile. It allows for the creation of a smooth track with an unbelievably quick lead time. Using NoLimits’ built in smoothing, radius-measuring and straightening tools, it is possible to create very believable paths.
