BAOBAO AND THE LANTERN FESTIVAL
Half dark ride, half coaster.
BaoBao and the Lantern Festival is a highly themed roller coaster experience that takes you through the valleys and skies of China. After a mischievous dragon sends all the light away, can you help BaoBao return it to the festival?
The Modeling
This was my first project in NoLimits in which I used Blender for the creation of 3D models instead of Sketchup. It opens up a world of possibilities from animated pig figures to dragon heads!
The Figures
Throughout the ride, you can spot a total seven different animated pig figures! I hesitate to call them animatronics due to their limited motion, but this preliminary step into animated figures has me thinking up some big ideas for the future.
The Design
The track layout for this ride was especially difficult, due to the nature of blending a roller coaster with a dark ride. The final coaster is a great balance of pacing and story telling, carrying six trains of twelve passengers.
